A few years ago, when Grey's Anatomy was popular, "McDreamy", a nickname for the actor Patrick Dempsey, was commonly used in a similar fashion as 男神. Dempsey's portrayed character, Derek Shepherd, was a man who was charming, devilishly handsome, extremely smart (he was a neurosurgeon, after all) and basically the kinda guy every girl goes to sleep dreaming about, hence "McDreamy". Most people know this term, albeit not being very popular anymore, and only girls would use it. Other than this, the concept of 男神，女神 is not that prevalent in the US.
